Sambar Podi

The humble and heavenly Sambar is a tangy lentil and vegetable stew. The subtle aroma of the sambar podi brings it all together into a wonderfully delicious curry that we south Indians cannot live without. Bhoomi brings to you our tried and tested version of sambar podi with coriander seeds, fenugreek, red chilli, toor dal, channa dal, black pepper, cumin, and turmeric. The whole spices are patiently dry roasted on a medium flame, taking them just to the edge, cooled and powdered. They have a long shelf life when stored in airtight containers. This moderately hot, spice blend is very versatile and can be used for making Sambar, Rasam and for flavouring roasted vegetables, soups or stews, just as you would any other spice mix.

Idli Molaga Podi


Quintessential spicy condiment for Idli and Dosa.

A staple of any South Indian pantry, this coarsely ground chutney powder is made with urid dal, channa dal, dried red chillies and asafoetida. Mixed with sesame oil, it is a quick and delicious accompaniment to Idli and Dosa. It can also be added to roasted vegetables to give them crunch and a nutty flavour.
